Roger Thoman’s Posterous

All of my ramblings about simple church, church planting movements, intimacy with Jesus, reaching the unreached, and caring for the poor in one place. The good stuff from here ends up at one of the following two sites:

Victor John, who catalyzed church planting movement in India, speaks up on prayer

While in Singapore I was with Victor John who has been the catalyst for one of the largest church planting movements in India: 3,000,000 baptisms in the past 15 years and 80,000 churches planted.  He attributes this to the passionate prayer of his people coming from a place of desperate dependency along with an "unprecedented expectation that God will do something great today."

I hope that is an encouragement as we continue to stand together to see God move in our own areas as well as around the world.

It is a discredit to our wonderful God that we fail to take Him at His word: "You have not because you ask not." It is also incredible arrogance on our part to think we can fulfill our calling as disciples without being much in prayer. I am guilty on both counts. I act as though I have a God who is reluctant to answer my prayers or as though prayer is not the means by which God has ordained my participation in His work here on earth. Nothing could be further from the truth.
